Kent Super Dog 2014
This year Dover & Deal C S was celebrating 25 years of Kent Super Dog, at the Ramada Hotel Dover. The Society hosts this event annually, with all proceeds going to charity.
The chosen charity for this year was Cinque Port Rescue, which is a small local dog rescue organization. Two founder members came along and gave an informative talk on the work that they do, ably assisted by two beautiful dogs.
The marquee looked resplendent decorated in black, white and silver, and each exhibitor received a commemorative pen to mark the occasion.
Compere Jonathan Daltry made a splendid job of introducing the dogs, and he gave an interesting talk about the origin of each competing breed.
The judges were kept a secret until after the draw, and the start of the knock-out competition. It was announced that Irene Terry would judge Puppy and Veteran, and Bill Grey Open.
From an entry of 41 dogs their principal winners were Puppy - Mrs Gillman's Lhasa Apso Caspar. Open - Mr Wood's Briard Rix, and Veteran - Mrs HopkinsÕ Giant Schnauzer Ella. The final decision was made between the two judges for the winner of Kent Super Dog 2014, and the Puppy Caspar came out on top.
Each winner was presented with a piece of crystal and a voucher from Royal Canin, the eveningÕs sponsors.
Funds raised for the charity were swelled by an excellent tombola, a sweepstake, and a raffle for a large basket of spirits and wine, valued at £200. The lucky winner of this basket was the owner of the Best Veteran.
Everyone agreed that it was an excellent evening and plans are already underway for next yearÕs event.
